Philanthropy

The philanthropy of Alpha Chi Omega is supporting the victims of domestic violence and bringing awareness to this worldwide crisis. The Women's Shelter with which the Omicron Chapter works is called the Willow Domestic Violence Center (formerlyknown as the Women's Transitional Care Services), locatedin Lawrence, KS. This safe shelter is for battered women and children who need a secure place to stay while they get back on their feet. The Willow Domestic Violence Center provides necessary shelter, supplies and assistance to those women and children who turn to the shelter in times of need. We try to donate time and money to help those that have been affected by domestic violence.

In 2012, Omicron Chapter raised more than $800 and donated a variety of other items to the Willow Domestic Violence Center. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we hosted an awareness week featuring a number of speakers and performers. Omicron also has a booth at the annual Maple Leaf Festival to raise funds for the Willow.
